:: dictionary.com says that "than" is either a conjunction or a preposition. I searched Google for "capitalizing titles" and found [http://www.writersblock.ca/tips/monthtip/tipmar98.htm this] which references ''The Chicago Manual of Style''. Apparently, if "than" is a subordinate conjuction, it should be capitalized. However, if it is a coordinate conjunction, it should be lowercased. Since dictionary.com did not specify what type of conjunction "than" was, I did some more searching. [http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/conjunctions.htm#subordinating_conjunctions Here] "than" is listed as a a subordinating conjunction (further up on the page there is a [http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/conjunctions.htm#than more indepth coverage] of "than"). So, if my sources are credible, we need to decide whether (in this instance) "than" is a subordinating conjunction or a preposition to decide whether it should be capitalized or not. That's where I get confused. I'm not sure how "than" is being used in this case. - [[User:ClonedWizard|ClonedWizard]] 15:54, 17 July 2006 (PDT) |

Should this page be titled Less than Hero, as it is now, or Less Than Hero (note the capital T in Than)? The only reason it is an issue is that some pages link to one and some to the other (than vs. Than). The lower case t one seems to be the most used, but which one is correct? - ClonedWizard 01:28, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- User:Gopher/sig Nice catch. than is a preposition, which are often not capitalized, but I'm not certain. I'll check the DVD cases later if nobody beats me to it.
- One problem with that Gopher, the DVD boxes spell the whole thing in capitals. But I'd say lowercase. - Quolnok 07:41, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
